Australian Open 2014 - Day 4
For the second year in a row I scored a couple of free ground pass tickets to the Australian Open. This time they were provided by MLC (one of AO’s major sponsors). Majority of the matches in the afternoon were suspended due to extreme weather conditions.
Matches were suspended again in the evening due to heavy thunderstorm. Typical Melbourne weather. We were watching the 2nd round match between Gilles Simon (world #19) and Marin Cilic at that time. Simon actually started the game terribly (maybe something to do with playing on Court 15), but he respectively ensured a comeback win and a place in the 3rd round.
Highlight of the day was Men’s Singles - 2nd round match between Frenchman Gael Monfils (world #32) and American Jack Sock. Monfils won in straight sets against Sock, 7-6 7-5 6-2, and is now through to the 3rd round. The match was played at Hisense Arena.
